I always try to have a camera with me as I head out of the door each
morning, and through the years I have truly considered it to be an
extension of myself. I generally shoot at least one roll of film every
day, as I have since 1969. I may be working on specific projects, but I
am also collecting visual notations from my everyday life in what I call
my daily journal. All were from 35mm negatives, printed on 8"x 10"
Portriga Rapid paper until 1986, after which I began printing on 11"x
14" Forte Elegance. Of course, there are thousands of photographs in
this ongoing series, generally of people that have meant much to me,
family, friends, and familiar strangers, who have played a significant
part in my own growth and development.
